Estate de Cerro Sereno — A Home Above the Valley

Where the Chapora River curves through the valley, Estate de Cerro Sereno sits on the hill above. Named from the Spanish for serene hill, the home takes its tone from its setting — warm, unhurried and easy to arrive at.

Entrance View

The hill shaped where each room would sit, where the verandahs would face, where light would come in through the day. A winding road leads up to the hilltop spot, and as the valley opens below, it becomes clear why this particular place was chosen.

The architecture follows the Goan-Portuguese tradition — arched openings, verandahs, balcaos and Mangalore-tiled roofs that manage the monsoon. The layout faces west, placing the lounge, deck and infinity pool in direct line with the river. The Chapora sits in view from most rooms, framed by large windows that make the landscape a constant presence.

Living Area

Inside, the palette is warm and considered throughout. The foyer opens in white and black marble. Living and dining spaces follow in warm whites, brushed brass and soft wood tones. The dining table — a stone top with fluid grain — sits beneath a sculptural overhead light. Marble runs through the corridors and staircase. The five bedrooms share a quiet design language: soft neutrals, walnut finishes and spa-like bathrooms in natural stone.

The sit-out, pool deck and planted terrace each look out over the valley. At dusk, with the river catching the last of the light and the hills settling into the evening — as if the moment was made for you — Estate de Cerro Sereno is a home that stays with you.
