Interview with Kamala Kannan
A true Coonoor fan, Kamala has grown up and worked across South India giving him deep insight and appreciation of the region. He is our Guest Relations Manager in Coonoor and we look forward to learning more about him!
Tell us a bit about yourself, how did you end up at Isprava?
Being a well-experienced hospitality professional with a Hotel Management degree from the Bharatiyar University, Coimbatore, I hail from The Nilgiris (Queen of Hills). After a long career in the hospitality industry in Karnataka, I was looking to work in The Nilgiris. During my holiday, back from Karnataka, I took a long drive to The Nilgiris to see all the changes that have taken place. That is when I heard about the launch of Luxury Home Segments for the first time in The Nilgiris. I did my research on Isprava to understand the concept of how & what it does along with the hospitality vertical which was in their pipeline. I then decided to be a part of Isprava’s Hospitality team for The Nilgiris.
What is your role here?
I handle Guest Relations (Rental & Hospitality) for Lohono Stays by Isprava for The Nilgiris region.
What is your favourite part of your role?
I enjoy guiding the new guests that visit our homes in The Nilgiris by sharing my knowledge about this town. This helps them in getting around and moving about all the areas near the home and in Coonoor.
Tell us a little bit about the culture at the office?
Tech-savvy, young & energetic colleagues all around.
Were you always inclined toward the luxury space? If so, how do you feel it evolving in India now?
I have seen a great shift in the luxury space. Luxury is no longer attached to a price tag or owning an expensive item. Luxury has become a lifestyle, a way of being. People are changing to adopt the luxury lifestyle and love doing so.
Are you more a beach person who loves the energy of Goa or the tranquil calm of the lush Nilgiris?
If I was asked this 6 years ago, I would definitely say Goa. However, now I prefer the tranquil calm of the lush Nilgiris.
What does luxury mean to Isprava?
