Interview with Manali Bhutwala

Manali has joined us as the Head of Rentals for Isprava where she handles everything to do with renting out our beautiful homes. Manali is sharp, hardworking and always has her head down! We chat with her to learn more about her life and how she got to Isprava.

Tell us a bit about yourself, how did you end up at Isprava?
Right before graduating from the Indian School of Business, I came across Isprava’s website. I had heard about the firm and what they do while working at my previous job at Jones Lang LaSalle, so I got in touch with the HR team and was introduced to the Rentals and Hospitality role.

I have worked across boutique architecture studios across India and Sri Lanka, and I love tropical architecture. Prior to my MBA, I was working with a real estate portfolio management team, where I really enjoyed my work. Thus, the role at Isprava was very exciting and challenging.

What is your role here?
Building the Rentals and Hospitality business at Isprava and expanding our portfolio.

What is your favourite part of your role?
I like that my role is holistic and encompasses multiple functions. I work on everything from building the business model to sales and marketing to continuous ideation on how to improve the guest experience. Our endeavour is to redefine how hospitality is perceived in the country.

Tell us a little bit about the culture at the office?
It is great; the open, collaborative structure helps us grow quicker.

Were you always inclined toward the luxury space? If so, how do you feel it evolving in India now?
I have worked across multiple facets of real estate, but not particularly in luxury.  At Isprava, I feel like we are bridging an essential gap in the market; currently, consumer options include staying at a luxury hotel which is very institutionalized and standardized or in an Airbnb which might look beautiful but lacks service and the promise of a great experience. That is where we are positioned.

Are you more a beach person who loves the energy of Goa or the tranquil calm of the lush Nilgiris?
Definitely Goa.

What does luxury mean to Isprava?
Catering to latent, unspecified consumer needs, going beyond the brief in crafting unforgettable homes and experiences.
