Golfing in the Nilgiris

29th Nov 2016

Isprava builds luxury homes in Goa and most recently, the Nilgiris. Owning land in Kotagiri or property in Ooty means you have the ability to enjoy cool weather throughout the year, unrivalled scenery and be surrounded by untouched nature. These pristine locations are some of the few remaining unspoiled destinations in the country and we plan to keep them so. The villas we build are exclusive, private and built using the most eco-friendly methods possible. When you buy an Isprava villa, you are not only purchasing a structure but a lifestyle, and a huge part of this lifestyle is leisure and relaxation.

There are times when one wants to enjoy their own company and spend time in solitude mulling over a novel. However, at other times, it’s also enjoyable to be out in nature while doing something active. Golf is a great sport where you can be outdoors while using logic, skill and physical ability in the lap of nature. Golfing is not always possible in big cities however the Nilgiris have some excellent courses for you to try your hand at the sport.

Located in the heart of the Nilgiris, the Wellington Gymkhana Club offers 69 acres of pure bliss. The sprawling property is one of the oldest clubs in the country and casts a truly enchanting spell over all who are lucky enough to visit. You feel as though you’ve stepped back in time with the colonial architecture, superb hospitality and old world charm of the club.

The Ootacamund Gymkhana Club, also known as the Ooty Golf Course  is situated at a height of 7,000 feet on the rolling Wenlock Downs. The 18-hole golf course is surrounded by the Avalanchi range with incredible views and a variety of flora and fauna. One of the most stunning natural golf courses in the world, the blind greens (where you can’t see the greens from the tee) make this course a challenging break from city life.

Here’s a fun golfing fact, due to the air being thinner at high altitudes, your ball will travel considerable further than at sea level! One round of golf means you are walking between five and seven kilometres which works up quite a sweat. Apart from being a great group or solo activity, golf is a great way to keep your mind active while burning calories. Golfing is just one of the many activities available to those who own property or visit the Nilgiris. Make these experiences a reality with one of Isprava’s conveniently located villas in the area.
